A little something about the series

which captures my heart

lady oscar

First, this’s shoujo (for teenagers and older girls), yes, but it’s not some kind of cheap love story. This’s not only a story about love, it’s about life, about duty, about honor, about pride, about war and about death. There’re a lot of details in this story’d been taken from history, and event a _ sworn _ foe _ of _ history like me , attracted by it.

The story takes place in France, before and during the French Revolution.

At the end of 18th century, three people who fate had set to meet in Versailles – the central intelligence of the whole continent.

Marie Antoinete is the eleventh princess of the Austrian Queen: Maria Theresa. She got married at the age 14, for the sake of her country. In France, she met Oscar Francois de Jarjayes, a female commander of the Royal guard, who was responsible for the safety of hers.

Oscar Francois de Jarjayes is the youngest daughter of the de Jarjayes family. General de Jarjayes considered her as his heir, not heiress, so that she could follow his way to become a general. Thus she grew up like a man. André Grandier, Oscar’s servant, Oscar’s best friend, he has lived with her since he was 9, by the time, the feeling he has for her grows bigger and changes to another feeling…

Antoinette met Hans Axel von Fersen, a handsome Swedish count at a ball. And they soon fell in love with each other… The affair between the two was the subject of rumours through all of France, endangering Antoinette’s reputation and driving Oscar to tell Fersen that he must leave the country…

The story continued with a lot of historical details , like “The Affair of the Necklace”, the death of crown prince Joseph…and France was heading to a disaster due to Marie Antoinette’s squandering of money. People were starving and that was the beginning of the French revolution in 1789…

As you can see, there’re not only love in the story. But the love between André and Oscar is the sweetest love story I’ve ever known. The way he silently followed her and protected her…the way she screamed his name when she was afraid she may lose him…the way he cried and said he would never touch her again but he also couldn’t help loving her…and the way she cried and shouted : André, are you leaving me behind?

Everybody in this series, won’t “live happily ever after”, but they can stay in your heart forever.
Feel interested?

Well, ok…

If you don’t want to watch/read a fairy tale, in which Cinderella always has the fairy godmother to help her…
If you don’t like the idea that every main character is angel and every negative character is evil…
If you’re interested in history or maybe not (like me 😛 ) but you want to give it a chance…
If you want to know how people treat people…
If you want to know how wonderful and painful the love could be…

So you should take a look at this series. Even if you don’t like it, you won’t be able to say it’s bad.
